Dear Lucky Dog Family,

You've probably been receiving emails about our Lucky Stars Monthly Giving Club -- the group of individuals whose monthly commitment to Lucky Dog makes it possible for us to keep saving dogs and cats. Makes it possible to be a YES when we find a dog or cat in need.

You might wonder why this monthly giving club is so important. Why forgoing one Starbucks a week can have such an impact. The answer is simple: Monthly giving provides a reliable source of funding for animals in need. It provides funds we can count on when making decisions about what vet care we can provide, what lives we can save.

Take a second to do the math. $6 a week (one latte at Starbucks) results in $24 a month and $288 a year.

You could also look at it as providing one meal a week to a puppy in need, one vaccine a month to a kitten fighting for survival, or one spay/neuter a year, preventing hundreds of unwanted puppies or kittens.

Any way you look at it, your monthly gift has IMPACT.

Any way you look at it, your monthly gift saves lives.

And, any way you look at it, the Lucky Dogs and Cats benefit from your ongoing support.

Being a monthly star is not without its privileges either! All monthly stars donors receive a special semi-annual newsletter. Monthly donors of $20 or more enjoy the above benefit, have their name listed on our web page and receive a lucky stars tote bag. And, monthly donors of $25 or more receive the above benefits and are invited to an annual meet and greet, where Lucky Dog will share rescue and campaign updates.

Thank you for all you do on behalf of our Lucky Dogs and Cats. I hope that we'll see you joining the Lucky Stars soon.

Volunteer Spotlight: Kevin McCormack, Dog Foster

I volunteer as a dog foster because nothing is more rewarding than saving an animal that was doomed to a life of neglect or worse. Giving them a place to live until they transition to a family that actually wants them is the least I can do for an innocent life.

Share the Luck: Maggie!

A gorgeous 3-year old, 60-pound, lab mix from South Carolina, Maggie's puppies are all adopted and now it is her turn! Maggie is an active and happy dog who loves daycare and trips to the dog park, and who would make a great hiking or running companion.

This Month On The Lucky Dog Blog:

A passionate adopter-turned volunteer shares how she found Lucky Dog and what makes our programs so great.

Trainer's Corner:

Always ask before you approach a dog you don't know. Permission and the positive body language are imperative to a successful introduction.

Pet Health and Safety:

Dr. Jann Elliott DVM shares a vet's perspective on the importance of socialization and helpful resources for new adopters. Trainers and vets are happy to help if you have any questions.
