 | Dear Lucky Dog Supporter, I'm just sitting down to write this email to you -- our wonderful Lucky Dog Family. It's after midnight on Monday night -- well, I guess technically Tuesday morning. I arrived this evening at our Rescue Campus to help prepare for our second week of Hurricane Helene related work. Honestly, I never thought that we'd be running evacuation flights in the wake of Hurricane Helene just as the largest storm of the year barreled towards Florida. I'm terrified for the families in the path of Hurricane Milton, but I find some solace in the fact that, of the 33 dogs and 5 cats we brought to safety from Florida last week, NINE would have been right in the path of Hurricane Milton. I also know that this team will rally to do whatever we can to help the animals impacted by this storm. But, first, we need to get through this week. Thirty-six dogs arrived from Western Tennessee, specifically from Washington County Johnson City Animal Shelter in Johnson City. This area is not being talked about on the news, but the devastation it suffered is very similar to that of eastern North Carolina. In fact, it is in the mountains just west of Boone, North Carolina and north of Asheville. Yesterday, 110 cats joined them at our Rescue Campus. |
| | These animals will join some of our Florida evacuees going to rescues in Wisconsin on a special flight on Saturday. This is just on the heels of the 125 animals we flew to safety last week. And the 32 animals we transported to our fosters and adopters in Northern Virginia just five days ago. We are also distributing dog and cat food -- as well as other supplies -- to pets in need. We've never been involved in hurricane relief work quite like this before. But, like everything Lucky Dog does, we jump right in and make things happen. And, we can only do that because YOU have our backs. Keep tabs on our social media so you can see our relief work in action! And, if you haven't had a chance, please consider making a donation to our efforts. Thank you on behalf of all our Lucky Dogs and Cats, |

| | | | Volunteer Spotlight: Tony Yang - Handler and Long Stay Pups Advocate My friend and I initially started making dog and cat portraits just for fun. But after handling at one of Lucky Dog's events and beginning to draw portraits for Lucky Dog, we realized it could mean so much more. These portraits represent the long stay pups who can't make it to adoption events every time, and by handing out information sheets, we are giving them a chance to be noticed and find a forever home. Volunteering and meeting all the Lucky Dogs at the Sunday events has quickly become my favorite weekend activity. One of our most special projects was drawing 27 portraits of fosters for one of Lucky Dog's longtime foster parents for her wedding, which was incredibly meaningful to us. Through our portrait commissions at Mickey and Molly, we've also been able to donate back to the rescue and support more animals in need. We'll keep doing what we love and see you guys out there at Sunday adoption events! |
| | | | In Need of Lucky Homes: Snuggles and Timothy! This month, these two staff favorites are hoping to finally find their forever home. You can become one of our paw-some adopters and help us save lives, one Lucky Cat and Dog at a time! Click here to see all of our other pets available for adoption. Meet Snuggles: If you're searching for a loyal feline companion and ultimate cuddle buddy, Snuggles is the perfect match! True to her name, she adores snuggling and can never get enough head scratches and pets. Wherever her human goes, Snuggles is always close by, ready to offer companionship. Meet Timothy, aka Lovebug: Timothy is an adorable 7-month-old puppy who’s smart, eager to learn, and full of affection. With his gentle nature, he’s great with children and other dogs. Timothy loves being part of daily activities and quickly settles down for a nap when things get quiet. |
