Dear Lucky Dog Family,

Three thousand.

Three thousand Lucky Dogs and Cats have been rescued this year thanks to amazing supporters like you. Thanks to the army of volunteers we have working day in and day out to screen adopters, onboard fosters, intake animals, and do all the behind the scenes tasks required to accomplish out lifesaving work. Thanks to our tireless staff who eats, sleeps and breathes Lucky Dog.

I am simply in awe of what this team has accomplished so far in 2020. And we've still got two months to go.

In each of the past few years, my goal for Lucky Dog has been to rescue 2,000 animals. It has always been a stretch goal. And an elusive one. Who would have thought that in the midst of a global pandemic -- in a year where every single one of our operations had to be rethought and revised -- we would not just surpass our stretch goal, but we would shatter it?

It's fitting that we hit this record breaking achievement as we enter November. A month of of giving thanks. A month of gratitude. A month to stop and reflect on how lucky we really are.

I know a lot of 2020 has been truly horrible. There is so much fear, so much uncertainty, so much loss. But, if you look for the silver lining; look for the bright spots; look for the love that can be found, there is much we can and should celebrate. Much to be grateful for.

I am grateful for each and every one of you. You have stood by us. Donated. Volunteered. Adopted. Sent positive thoughts. You've made this year -- these 3,000 saved lives -- possible.

If you haven't yet already, I hope you will consider joining me -- and the Lucky Dog Family -- for our upcoming professionally-produced virtual variety show on November 14th: Lucky Dog LIVE!. We've never attempted anything like this before, but that won't stop us from trying! It's going to be an incredible celebration of all we have accomplished, filled with fun segments on food, wine, spirits, and -- of course -- rescue stories! There's even a separate kids track so everyone has something fun to do! Be sure to get your tickets now!

And, the best part? Every ticket sold; every silent auction item sold (you can start bidding now!), every dollar raised, saves more animals. Completes more families. Makes Lucky Dog's work possible.

Thank you on behalf of all our Lucky Dogs and Cats,

Mirah Horowitz

Volunteer Spotlight: Sophie Searby -- Customer Service Volunteer, Social Media Volunteer, and Marketing Intern

A few years ago, I began volunteering with Lucky Dog as a foster and at adoption events. Now, I'm a marketing intern and I get to learn about and participate in a different side of this incredible organization and I especially enjoy making the weekly adoption collages. I've learned so much over the past few months, and it's been so rewarding to volunteer alongside all of the individuals at Lucky Dog who are so passionate about these animals.

Share the Luck: Bertha and Lilly!

Meet Bertha: Bertha is a sweet and shy 4-5 year old brown tabby who adores other cats and cannot wait to find her forever home. Her favorite activities are exploring around the house and sunbathing by the windows.

Meet Lilly: Lilly is an active 11-month old boxer/retriever mix with a huge personality who can be a bit anxious at times and is looking for a calm home with another dog to help build her confidence. She loves dogs, is very smart, and looks forward to continuing her training with a forever family of her own.
